Pittsburgh

After a disappointing season for the University of Pittsburgh football team in 2006, they will lose two huge pieces of their team over the past four years in Tyler Palko and H.B. Blades.

Before we get to those two #84-TE Steve Buches is a free agent body that lacks athletic ability and is to narrow to be an efficient blocker at the next level. OG John Simonitis is awaiting word from the NCAA to discover if he has been granted a medical red shirt for 2006 which would allow him to play in 2007. They will lose other starters such as OC Joe Vilani, OB Clint Session, SS Sam Bryant and other backups in DE Vernon Botts and LB Brian Bennett - all of whom are rejects.

Pittsburgh Punter Adam Graessle is yet to be watched but has been solid for his career at Pitt.

CB Darrelle Revis is as good as gone from what I've heard and he should test very well at his workout. He is a very good athlete with the footwork, fluid hips and overall ability to be a solid man coverage corner. However, Revis doesn't help against the run making him a lesser day one prospect. His Punt Return ability should benefit him though as many will recall him for his exciting return against West Virginia in November.

Pitt LT Jeff Otah, a junior, is going to be a very dominant player next season and has the looks of being a great pro player.

Look for reports on Palko and Blades on the website this weekend.

Alabama

With WR Tyrone Prothro still out after a gruesome broken leg in 2005 and LT Kyle Tatum being benched in favor of an up and coming player, Alabama only has 3 players on Offense to look at.

RB Kenneth Darby had a sub par season but still looks quick and aggressive. He hasn't been able to create much on his own and is dancing behind the LOS too often. Still he is a good player and around the 3rd round is where he stands now.

Le'Ron McClain, #33, is an excellent prospect that should go on the first day. He is a good athlete with FB size and he loves to hit. McClain doesn't just hit you though, he uses his hands and has good technique.

Tim Castille, the backup FB #19 sees action as a short yardage back struggles to face up as he lacks blocking technique. With some discipline though he could develop as he is an good athlete for the FB position and has good strength.

DT #99 Jeremy Clark is a decent athlete that may have the ability to be a backup at 34 DE. He offers little at the POA though and plays with poor leverage. Expect him to be a FA despite his invitation to the Shrine Bowl.

Juwan Simpson, who was suspended early in the season, makes a lot of tackles on the stat sheet, but doesn't show up on film. An outside backer #42, he is a timid tackler and doesn't drive. He will miss a lot of tackles and despite his very good athletic ability, is likely a free agent. Simpson could see a move to SS where he may be better suited.

Ramzee Robinson a CB is a super quick player that despite his size isn't afraid to play physical at the LOS. He has a good hip turn and can break on the ball. He plays hard every snap and tries to overcome his size in the run game but it is just too much. Despite his size he is solid in zone coverage showing good responsibility. Ramzee currently carries a late 4th round grade.

Finally on the Alabama D is Safety #3 Jeffrey Dukes. Dukes saw little time in 2005 behind Roman Harper and Charlie Peprah but has been solid in 2006. He certainly looks the part and has good straight-line speed but misses to many tackles. He is slow to react in zone defense and has only adequate range. Currently he is listed as a free agent.

Stay Tuned!

Mississippi State Reports have been posted on the site. They do have a few players playing in all-star games that will affect their grades. It is also possible that they may get a player into the NFL Combine so grades will be updated to reflect their performances come March.
